Dafan Zhang, founder and president of DafanZ Tuning, has been involved in the motorcycle and roadracing
industry for over 6 years.
Dafan started track riding in 1999. Unsatisfied with the level of performance of his motorcycle,
he drew on his mechanical engineering background and started tuning his own bike. He started club racing
in 2001 and moved into the AMA Pro ranks in 2004.
Through out his racing career, Dafan always tuned his own bikes. Rather than depending on trial and error,
he used his engineering and physics knowledge to understand the inner working and the physics of
a motorcycle's suspension components. He noticed that although there are a few good companies providing
suspension services, there has always been a lack of tuning/setup services available. Unless one is a
supported rider, it is hard or sometimes impossible to secure helpful and useful
tuning/setup/adjustment services even though one's hardware is top notch.
Dafan started to offer setup and tuning services to his friends and associates. As the lap times of his
friends dropped, Dafan's reputation spread. He found himself setting up everyone's bike at trackdays,
at rider hangouts and at racing events. DafanZ Tuning was born.
Today Dafan is a privateer racer in the AMA Superbike championships. He also plans to own and operate
a full AMA team in the near future.
